Instead of this, the goal of the state government under the Scheme is to eliminate poverty in West Bengal.
Also, the aim of the Scheme is to ensure food security among those who are living under the poverty line as well as build a hunger-free state.
Let’s find out at this stage who will get the benefits of the food distribution or Khadya Sathi Scheme. In fact, all the poor will get the benefits of the Scheme, but according to the following qualifications.
1. The applicant of the Khadya Sathi Scheme must be a local from West Bengal. In other words, the person who wants to buy food grains at a lower price through the Scheme must be a resident of West Bengal. Otherwise, the person will not be covered under the Scheme.
2. Only poor families will be considered eligible for this scheme. That is, all the individuals whose monthly income is above the poverty line will not get the benefit of this scheme.
3. Only the ration cardholder will get the benefit of the Khadya Sathi scheme. He must show the ration card while purchasing food grains or supplying rice-wheat under this scheme.
4. Besides, most of the people of the Jangalmahal Purulia area will get help under this Scheme. People living in the hilly areas of Darjeeling including those who have been displaced by the cyclone will also come under the Khadya Sathi Scheme.
